Student support
Four layers of support, so that a struggling student is noticed before the problem becomes serious.
House tutors
From Grade 6, every student has a house tutor who stays with the same group for three years. The tutor sees them daily, tracks attendance and grades across all subjects, and is the first person a parent should contact about anything that is not subject-specific.
School counsellor
A qualified counsellor is on site four days a week. Students may self-refer through a confidential form on the portal, or be referred by a tutor or a parent. Sessions are confidential within the limits of our safeguarding policy, which is explained to students at the first meeting.
Learning support
A full-time learning-support teacher works with students who need additional help, in small groups or one to one. Support plans are written with parents, reviewed each term, and shared with every teacher who takes that student.
Health services
A full-time nurse staffs the infirmary during school hours. Medical information, allergies and consent are recorded at admission and updated annually. Parents are informed the same day of any treatment given.
University and careers guidance
Guidance starts in Grade 11, not in the final term of Grade 12 when deadlines are already closing.
Every member of staff is trained in child protection at induction and refreshed annually. The Dean of Student Affairs is the designated safeguarding lead.
Concerns of any kind may be raised in person, by telephone, or in writing to the school office. Parents may request a copy of the safeguarding policy at any time.
