Dewan School of Excellence educates 1,240 students from Playgroup to Grade 12 in Islamabad. Small classes, teachers who stay, and a curriculum built around understanding rather than memorisation.
Twenty-eight years of steady, unglamorous work
We opened in 1998 with 62 students in a rented house on Margalla Road. The purpose then is the purpose now: to give families in Islamabad a school that takes academic work seriously without turning childhood into an examination sprint.
Today the campus holds 1,240 students across three sections — Primary, Middle and Senior — on a single site, so a Grade 1 pupil and a Grade 12 candidate share the same assembly, the same library and the same standards of conduct.

Four commitments shape every timetable, every lesson plan and every report card we write.
Quality teaching
Lessons are planned in subject teams and reviewed each term. Teachers observe one another twice a year and act on what they see.
Experienced faculty
Eighty-six teachers, forty-one of them with a master's degree in the subject they teach, and most with more than a decade in the classroom.
Modern learning
Physics, chemistry, biology and computing laboratories, a 12,000-volume library and smart boards in every Middle and Senior classroom.
Student development
Debate, sport, service and the arts are timetabled, not optional extras squeezed in after the examination season ends.
The hours between the bells
Thirty-one clubs, eleven sports teams and a campus designed so that students have somewhere to go at break other than a corridor.

Parents usually ask me about results first. I understand why, and our results are good. But the question I would rather answer is whether your child will be noticed here — whether someone will spot the week she stops raising her hand, or the term he starts sitting alone at break.
That is what a small school can do that a large one struggles to. Every teacher at Dewan knows the students in their care beyond a mark sheet. Come and see for yourself; the campus is open to visiting families every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

Fifteen-minute slots with each subject teacher. Booking opens on the student portal one week in advance.
Annual inter-house sports gala
Track events, cricket final and the tug-of-war on the main ground. Families are welcome from 8:30 am.
Admissions open day for the 2027–28 session
Campus tours, a talk by the Principal and a chance to sit in on a Primary lesson.
First-term examinations begin
Datesheets are issued three weeks ahead through the student portal and the class notice board.

Dewan School of Excellence prepares candidates for the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary School Certificate under the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad. Our schemes of work follow the national curriculum, and our internal assessment calendar mirrors the board's own examination structure.
